TIME IN A BOTTLE
How frequently; how often,
Have each and every one of us
Wished we could soften
The blows that life delivers us
And capture time in a bottle?
How desperately; how terribly,
Have each and every single one of us
Wished we could forcibly
Remove the ills that trouble us
By capturing time in a bottle?
The problem with us
Is that we have blinkered vision
And forget that time resides within us
In a kind of a prison
For we ourselves are the bottle.
The joy within us
Is that we create our own destiny
And the choices are ours
To make with careful scrutiny
For we hold time within our bottle.

A DIVINE ADDICTION
You curse,
You abuse me,
But still I’m in your
arms,
Away from a few
storms.
You bring me
disgrace,
I’m last in the race,
But still I’m in your
arms,
Away from a few
storms.
You make me so glad,
You also make me sad,
So I’m still in your
arms,
Away from a few storms.
You made me bright,
You taught me what
isn’t right,
So I’m still in your
arms,
Away from a few
storms.
The wonders you work,
Are far above me,
Behaving like a
twerp,
I’m a mortal so
wee.....
I had written this
poem when I was eighteen and caught in the midst of mind damaging substance
abuse and titled it “Addiction”, but had lost the original manuscript. However,
bits and pieces were still floating around in my mind and I strung them
together to create a newer version.
My earlier, “Addiction”
has been replaced over the years with a new form of addiction. A rejuvenating
and exhilarating addiction to my Lord and Master. He may have cursed me to a life of misery as well as poverty
and done things that I may have considered abusive in a normal relationship but
I soon realised that he was doing all this only to make me stronger, to
withstand any onslaught of fate and evil, to dismantle my ego and give me that
golden quality of humility. This verse is therefore dedicated to my Lord, my Master and my God who has blessed me and done so much for me as well as protected me for over twenty five years since I came into contact with him.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 14.
Give me a break
Dear God!
Give me a break.
I have so much at
stake
Dear God!
I have so much at
stake.
I have much to make
Dear God!
I have much to make
My soul do awake
Dear God!
My soul do awake.
Before my life doth
take
Dear God!
Before my life doth
take.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 13.
What is time?
Is it also an
illusion?
You don’t give a
dime;
And that’s why the
confusion.
What is mine?
Is anything my
possession?
You don’t feel fine;
And that’s why the
obsession.
What else can rhyme?
Is anything my
creation?
You just are a mime;
And therein the whole
passion.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 12.
Pleasure follows
pain;
it’s a cycle you see.
Nothing is in vain;
it’s a cycle for
free.
Pleasure heightens
senses;
Pain refines the
soul.
No man in his senses;
refuses to be whole.
Pain empowers and
strengthens,
while pleasure; numbs
the soul.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 11.
The world
is small
but we
think tall;
We don’t look
at the small
we believe
it’s a fall;
Think big
we call.
Look! how big;
is the wall,
we have built;
around all!
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 10.
You take,
What you give.
You give,
What you take.
You protect and care
take,What you give.
You take,
What you protect and
care take.
You give,
What you protect and
care take.
You take,
What you give for
keep sake.
For nothing is mine.
Everything is yours,
Including the Sun
that shines,
I’m all yours.
For everything is
yours.
Nothing is mine,
Including this
illusion of ours,
Oh God! I’m all
yours......
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 9.
The eye of the
hurricane,
what a calm place to
be.
Thats where I now am,
with God next to me.
With God next to me,
what do I fear.
That’s how I now am,
with God beside me
here.
With God beside me
here,
what Joy do I
experience.
That’s all I am,
with God every where.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 8.
What is it,
That makes me live?
It’s Air, it’s Air.
What is it,
That permeates
everywhere?
It’s Air, it’s Air.
What is it,
That constitutes my
soul and mind?
It’s Air, it’s Air.
What is it
That makes me follow
Karma?
It’s Air, it’s Air.
What is it,
That makes me write
this piece?
It’s Air, my friends,
it’s Air.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 7.
Before the Air
Leaves the body
For good
Before the Air
Departs the body
As it should
Look inside yourself
my friends
Witness the Glory
My friends
Heaven shall be yours
For heaven is inside my friends
Indeed, Heaven is inside my Friends.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 6.
Within and without
inside and outside
Within The body and
out
two worlds abide.
The world inside
both wondrous and
rapturous
The world outside,
both illusory and
sensuous
Go into your world
and pray in the dark.
Learn to be bold
see the light and the
mark.
Go out unto the world
and labour in the
dark
Learn not to be told
see the good and the
stark.
Within and without
both are the same
Journey without doubt
and play a clean
game.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 5.
Unity in diversity
not only in the Indian nation
but in entirety
across nature’s creation.
The very nature of unity
does not mean oneness
it also reveals a duality
for unity means togetherness.
To unite two or more into one whole.
this being the essence of nature
it would be essential to also extol
the duality found in nature.
Nature exists in pairs
living as opposed to non-living
I’m not splitting hairs
receiving as opposed to giving.
Duality seems to exist
man as opposed to woman
while both co-exist
inhuman as opposed to human.
Duality seems to exist
darkness as opposed to light
following the other’s exit
day as opposed to night.
Duality exists everywhere
Truth as opposed to falsehood
is found everywhere
Indeed, duality is for good.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 4.
Wandering thirsty
Through the street
Wandering aimlessly
Dragging my feet.....
Wondering drearily
Through life’s maze
Wondering futilely
Thinking in a
daze.....
Worrying constantly
Through out our life
Worrying negatively
Living in constant
strife.....
Wandering, wondering,
worrying,
Three things one’s
mind must not do.
Preparing, praying,
pondering,
Three things one’s
mind must constantly do.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 3.
What we think
Is abstract
Is the most
Concrete thing.
Wake up! Wake up!
My fellow country men.
What we think
Is concrete
Is the most
Porus thing.
Wake up! Wake up!
My fellow country men.
What we think
Is real
Is the most
Illusory thing.
Wake up! Wake up!
My fellow country men.
What we think
Is madness
Is the most
Practical thing.
Wake up! Wake up!
My fellow country men.
Avoid the illusory cup
And our salvation is then!
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 2.
I am
What I am.
Nothing more
And everything less,
A total cipher
Amidst many sterling gents,
That's when I realise
And decipher
To change for the best;
Wish me good luck……….
Renewed energy and zest
Invigourates me.
SOUL SEARCHING. PART – 1.
Who am I?
I really don’t know
What am I?
I really don’t know
Why am I?
I really don’t know.
Sometimes, I clown
Bringing laughter to those down
Sometimes, in anger I frown
And make others mind blown.
At times, I am very sad
That I never listened to my Dad
At times, I am glad to be mad
But that is also bad.
Often am I confused
Wondering why I’m refused
Often am I rejected
And remain dejected.
Oh! God……Then who am I?
I’m just an ordinary man.
