JUST PRETENDING

The older I grow

The more I am sure

That no one knows anything

And we are all pretending

To be know it alls

Until our head falls

Pretending to live

Pretending to love

Pretending to care

Pretending to share

Pretending to know

Pretending to allow

Pretending; pretending

Without really ever intending

To allow us to be

What we are and should be

A DIFFERENT LAW OF NATURE

I’m just an apple that fell
and rolled far away from the tree
Does that ring a bell?
It’s a pity Newton didn’t see me
He would have then deciphered so easily
Some other law of nature for free
Maybe, he may have discovered
The law of exceptions to laws
Which would be propounded
For guys like me with flaws
There’s nothing wrong in being different
Nothing wrong with us at all
As long as to nature we are not indifferent
We shall continue to stand tall

HUMAN WARMTH

How very often
do we underestimate
Human warmth
Which doth soften
The cold reality
Of the world so sodden;
Rid of all humanity.
Seated in corruption,
Egocentricity
And selfishness unlimited
Which together rules the roost
Oh! For a little bit of
Genuine human warmth!

A PLEA TO THE DIVINE TEACHER

Oh Divine Teacher
Who does hold me upright;
As I do learn from you, my Master
And learn what is correct and right;
To live with and to love
The Divine Mother
As well as the Divine Father;
Not just once in a while
But all the days of my life.
Oh Divine Teacher
Lead me on forever

Without strife…

THE GOD PEDDLERS

He came to drive out

A bunch of thieves

And from God’s courtyard rout

These conniving thieves

But after the bout

With these stupid thieves

he quietly leaves

while they continue to peddle

without any grief or remorse;

Him, do they now continue to peddle

THE ILLUSIONS OF GREY

I prefer black or white
And not those shades of grey
For therein lies the chance
To truly go astray
Unless you understand illusion
You will really wither away
Oh but for the illusions of grey...

A WELCOME TO THE DIVINE SPIRIT

Welcome to my house
Thou immortal and Divine Spirit
I’m an unworthy louse
With little or no merit
But thou are one with mercy
And your loving forgiveness
Makes me calm and easy
To dwell in happiness...
Welcome to my house
Thou immortal and Divine Spirit
Remove the crust and the slag
And my purity enhance
So that I follow you; without a lag...
Welcome to my house
Thou immortal and Divine Spirit
Welcome to stay forever
So that thy qualities I may inherit

Of course, always and forever...

NINE PEBBLES

Every time a pebble is thrown
Ina pool of placid water
To ripple and drown
And finally calm returns
To the placid water
And thus life goes on
In quiet, peace and calm
Until another pebble is thrown
And creates a storm
Of ripples like a crown
Until they gradually
Cease to ripple
And quietly settle
Like a child
Going back to the nipple
And thus life goes on
In quiet, peace and calm
Until the nine pebbles
Of learning, testing and harm
Are overcome by the loving
As told in the nine fables
Of the Holy Mother
So these nine pebbles
Of nine days are surmounted
With the blessings
of the loving Mother
As well as the boons
of the Almighty Father

NINE NIGHTS: AN ANTHEM TO INDIAN MALE HYPOCRISY

Nine nights of sincere praise

Nine nights of holy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her the Adhi Sakthi Mother

We call her the Divine Goddess

But then we don’t even bother

And then keep her under duress

Nine nights of sincere praise

Nine nights of holy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Maha Durga

The destroyer of all impurity

But then just abuse her

With such Maha impunity

Nine nights of sincere praise

Nine nights of holy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Tiripura Sundari

The lady with divine beauty

But to molest her we are ever ready

Forgetting that to protect her is our duty

Nine nights of sincere praise

Nine nights of holy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Annapurna

The mother who feeds us every day

But do you really know

How families fail to feed her everyday?

Nine nights of sincere praise

Nine nights of holy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her the Divine Goddess Gayatri

The one who illuminates the consciousness

But fail to understand her per se

And rape her till she goes unconscious

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Lalithambika

The giver of all boons

Then in buses we rub and brush

While she suffers all these goons

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Lakshmi

We say she brings wealth

But then just tell me

Why we kill her in stealth

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Saraswathi

The fount of all knowledge

But then refuse to educate her

And to her suffering, we pledge

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call Mahishasura Mardhini

The vanquisher of the demon king

But in office we don’t let her work free

And try to exploit her like non-living thing

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

We call her Raja Rajeswari

The protector of the weak

But only give her a lot of worry

So that she’s afraid to speak.

Nine nights of insincere praise

Nine nights of unholy reverence

While other nights and all our days

Are filled with callous indifference

This poem has been written on the occasion of the Indian festival of Navaratri which literally means Nine Nights. Navratri is a very important and major festival in most Indian states. During these nine nights and ten days, the nine forms or nine incarnations of the Mother Goddess a.k.a. Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The tenth day is commonly referred to as Vijayadashami or "Dussehra", a day of Victory over evil.  Navaratri in 2013 will start on Saturday, the 5th of October and will continue for 9 days until Sunday, the 13th of October.

GREETINGS AND BEST WISHES

There are many forms
Of wishes and greetings
In many languages
And cultures
Whatever their feelings
It matters if only
When from the heart it conveys.
So when you wish a person
In whatever manner it may be
Let the thought be pure
And true feelings

convey for sure.

THE SACRED MUSE

The sanctity of the muse
Can be experienced
Only when in words it spews
To fly into poetic fancy
So I may then fly away
To find my peace
And live a quiet simple life
Without love

and without strife
