IT’S ALL THE SAME: PART - 2

I’ve done many things in life
from washing soda bottles
and surviving all the strife
to fighting corporate battles.
I’ve slept on wet street pavements
and hosted royal banquets
Tried every kinda high; from single malt
to  crude hooch with many a fault;
from grass to coke and speed
and downers and uppers indeed.
I did even sing in a bar for a living
Until God was so forgiving
Have served in many sectors
rubbed shoulders with many victors
Don’t like to talk much about it
For I find it sick to trumpet it
Cause I find it all the same
The rich man and the pauper
The draper and the barber
From the millionaire, the billionaire
to many a spoilt heiress or heir
From the so called saint to the sinner
to the poet, the dancer and the painter
They are all the same; just the same
All are the same; indeed a shame
The same flesh, skin and bones
but at each other, throwing stones
All the same until they find his name
The name of he who is above any name
and at his feet forgiveness seek
as egos with humility turn meek
to see the light that does shine bright
and teaches them what is right
Until then they are all same
same as everyone in name and game

IT’S ALL THE SAME: PART - 1

I’ve slept on dirty pavements
in the cold downpour of acid rain
I’ve slept on goose down on gold plated beds
in luxury and comfort without pain
But the sleep that I had
was always refreshingly the same
Yes, the sleep that I had
was always refreshingly the same

I’ve eaten from roadside joints
next to overflowing garbage bins
I've dined in regal splendour at rich haunts
which were worthy of many kings
But the hunger that I had
and the food that I tasted was the same
Yes, the hunger that I had
and the food which I tasted was the same

I’ve travelled in horse and bullock carts
that my body did sway and rock
I’ve travelled as well in Rolls Royce jets
that made me feel no shock
While the journey may have been longer
the destination remained the same
and though the travel may have been slower
Yet, the destination always remained the same

I’ve bathed in stagnant ponds
and fast flowing rivers
I’ve bathed in gold plated bathrooms
with golden faucets and showers
but the bath that I had was always refreshing
and the location to my cleanliness did not add
Yes, the cleanliness so refreshing
Yes, the cleanliness was the same that I had

So the poor who hanker to be rich
and the rich who ill-treat the poor
need not worry that life is a bitch
and nothing is taken for granted or sure
Life is not just about being poor one day
and rich the next day thereafter.
It is about being comfortable either way
and at home though poor or rich ever after.
