Sack-cloth and ashes
may denote sorrow
To those who fast
only until the morrow
But to those who
consider their fast
Is what the soul
needs; a sumptuous feast
It is all a matter of
perception my friend
And your perception
cannot make the world end
But can end the
worries and the stress of strife
Aw, come on; can you
really give me a life
Yes, if you make the
effort and the sacrifice
Then abstinence and
fasting can make you wise
For the feasting of
your innermost soul
Which depends on your
fasting; makes you whole
Purple and ashes may
denote sorrow
But sackcloth can
make you fly like a sparrow
If you believe and if
you cannot fast; at least abstain
And from mocking
others belief’s refrain
Specially written on
the occasion of 5th March 2014; now that Mardi Gras is over...
